Unicorn is a mythical creature symbolizing virtue. Usually, a unicorn is represented as a horse with a horn. According to esoteric teachings, it has a white body, a red head and blue eyes. The first images of a unicorn are found around the 4th century BC on seals from ancient cities of the Indus Valley. It is found in the Atharvaveda and the Mahabharata. Greek and Roman traditions considered the unicorn a real animal, its appearance is associated with Africa or India. In ancient Chinese mythology, the most common name for the unicorn (qilin 麒麟) is interpreted as a combination of two concepts: "qi" 麒 represents the male aspect, Yang, which radiates the driving force, the energy of creation; "lin" 麟 is the female principle, Yin, which receives energy. People can see a unicorn only in exceptional cases. He was considered a harbinger of happiness, and his appearance symbolizes the coming to power of a good ruler or the birth of a true monarch. In Tibet, the unicorn is called "se-ru". It is mainly a gazelle or a doe that lives on mountain peaks. The unicorn is a bridge between Heaven and Earth, between the world of light principles and the world of dark and dense matter. It exists on the border of two worlds - manifested and unmanifested, between two energies. The unicorn is a symbol of awakened consciousness, integrity and inner peace, it enlightens, shines in the darkness and, like the morning star, shows the way, inspiring people in their search for wisdom. On the pediments of Himalayan monasteries, two unicorns are invariably depicted turning the Wheel of Dharma.
