Ramen is said to have been brought to Japan by Chinese immigrants and was originally just sliced wheat noodles with a broth and a few vegetable additions. But over time, the dish was modernized and became one of the most popular not only in Japan, but also in the world. The origins of the history of this now world-famous soup originated in China. Then a similar soup with a similar name appeared in Korea, and only then – in Japan, from where its recipe began to spread beyond the borders of Asian countries. The name in China is written with two characters, which are read as «lamian». And in Japan, the dish is called «ra» + «men» from the words that mean, respectively, «pull out» and «noodles». At the beginning of the last century, the first ramen shop was opened in Tokyo, where the owner hired Cantonese people, and until the 1950s in Japan, ramen was called shina-soba, which meant «Chinese noodles». The recipe most likely originated in Japan due to the large number of Chinese immigrants, who often sold ramen and gyoza on the streets for workers, which is why it became so popular. In the 1950s, instant noodles were invented, which made it possible for everyone to make ramen, just add boiling water. In the 80s, ramen became a cult icon in Japan, and in 1994 the first museum was opened.
